Real Madrid 'doing everything possible' to sign Mbappe amid Liverpool competition
Paris Saint-Germain superstar Kylian Mbappe has been informed what Real Madrid are prepared to offer him to join the club this summer.
Mbappe, 25, is set to become a free agent in July and many expect the France international to sign for Los Blancos on a Bosman deal.
However, he snubbed interest from Carlo Ancelotti’s side back in 2022 and decided to sign a new deal at PSG despite the opportunity to join Real Madrid on a free transfer.
Florentino Perez remains desperate to sign the Frenchman and The Athletic have now reported that he is “doing everything possible to sign Mbappe.”
Furthermore, the report states that “Perez and Mbappe have been in direct contact for some time, which is unusual from the president. Sources say that in these conversations, the player has always conveyed to Perez that he wants to play for Real.”
In addition, Mbappe is aware of Real Madrid’s offer and must decide whether to accept or renew his contract at PSG.
He doesn’t have long, however, as Real Madrid have set a deadline of mid-January for him to choose.
Due to his decision to stay at PSG in 2022, Los Blancos’ new offer is not as lucrative from a financial perspective either. Mbappe was offered a €130 million signing bonus and a salary of €26m per year in 2022, but he rejected that in favour of staying at the Parc des Princes.
Liverpool also want Mbappe
Liverpool appear to be the only other club that Mbappe would consider leaving PSG for.
On BBC Radio 5 Live, French journalist Julien Laurens admitted: “I really believe him [Mbappe] when he says he hasn’t decided yet.
“If he wants to stay a little bit longer or go somewhere else in the summer as a free agent, Madrid very likely, Liverpool, less likely but, that’s another team he really, really likes.”
Jurgen Klopp’s side signed Darwin Nunez from Benfica in 2022, while Dutchman Cody Gakpo was added in January 2023. However, they have been linked with a sensational move for Mbappe despite the fact Mohamed Salah is leaning towards signing a contract extension at Anfield.
