Bayern push Davies to Real Madrid amid Tuchel crisis

Bayern Munich's ongoing crisis has convinced club bosses that they have been too generous in handing out big contracts in recent years, according to a report.

The Bavarians have lost crucial back-to-back games, first getting smashed by Bayer Leverkusen in a potentially title-deciding fixture and then falling to Lazio in the Champions League round of 16 first leg, and this has ramped up the pressure on head coach Thomas Tuchel.

The German has already admitted that it is highly unlikely for Bayern to come away from this season with any kind of silverware - unheard of in Munich - but the coaching position is not the only thing now being questioned amid this results crisis. According to Kicker (via AS), club chiefs have convinced themselves that they have been too generous when it comes to handing out big contracts.

There is a feeling that some Bayern players are quite simply overpaid and the Bundesliga-record signing of Harry Kane in the summer only made matters worse by annihilating the club's wage structure. The English sharpshooter is by far Bayern's best-paid player and this has had the knock-on effect that other big-name stars want to be brought in line with the 30-year-old.

Bayern pushing Davies to Madrid

In light of the recent crisis, however, Bayern are not willing to willy-nilly hand out major deals anymore. One of the players reportedly affected by this is Alphonso Davies.

While the Bavarians are keen to tie him down to a new long-term deal, they are not prepared to yield to his salary demands, it is claimed. Davies, regarded as one of the best full-backs in the world, is currently nursing an injury and has not quite been his swashbuckling self this term.

This, of course, is good news for Real Madrid. Los Blancos have been courting the Canadian for months and are expected to make a move for him in the summer. With his current deal up in 2025, Bayern will have to cash in on him in the next transfer window if they can't manage to agree fresh terms with him.
