Mbappe to Real Madrid in danger? PSG star's camp 'unconvinced' by offer
Influential people in Kylian Mbappe's entourage are not convinced by Real Madrid's contract offer, according to The Athletic.
Whenever it seems the Frenchman is on the verge of signing for Real Madrid, he throws a curveball. Widely expected to make his move - at last - this year, the PSG star is having second thoughts, it seems.
At least that is according to Mario Cortegana of The Athletic. He reports that Real Madrid's contract offer has left high-profile people in Mbappe's camp sceptical that a move to the Santiago Bernabeu is the right decision.
It is being claimed that the Frenchman was leaning towards finally joining Los Blancos, but that he is now having doubts about whether that truly is the right course of action. The 25-year-old has put off making a decision for now.
Real Madrid's 'low' offer
Cortegana reports that the feeling in Mbappe's camp is that Real Madrid's offer is nowhere near what a player of his quality could or should be getting.
While it has been widely reported that the forward would have to forego some of the money he is currently making at PSG due to Los Blancos simply being unable and unwilling to break the bank for him, it seems that some in Mbappe's inner circle deem the offer insulting.
In 2022, Real Madrid presented the Frenchman with a €130 million signing-on fee and a €26m annual salary. The current proposal on the table is believed to be lower than this, which is the reason behind the delay and the rift in his camp.
Those at Real Madrid believe that what has been proposed is sufficient and as high as they can possibly go. President Florentino Perez is still confident that Mbappe will join, but PSG have shown themselves a lot more flexible, having made several very different contract offers, which may yet tip the balance in their favour.
