Real Madrid’s poor luck with injury looks set to continue with new signing Endrick being stretchered off while playing for Palmeiras ahead of his summer move to Spain.

The wonderkid will join Real in July when he turns 18 but he could arrive with a significant injury after suffering discomfort in his right leg during Palmeiras’ Copa Libertadores match against Independiente del Valle.

The Brazilian was seen limping after taking contact near his thigh in the second half and he eventually fell to the ground, unable to even stand due to the pain.

A stretcher took Endrick off, with the teenager in tears over the prospect of a serious injury that could make him a doubt for the Copa America this summer, as well as hinder his start to life in Madrid.

Endrick returned to the bench with an ice pack on his leg, however the forward sat with his face in his hands, seemingly devastated at the potential setback.

“I still don't know what happened to him, I know he was suffering a lot,” Palmeiras coach Abel Ferreira said after the game. “My hope is that it's nothing serious because he deserves all the best, he helps us a lot. He is an example for us.”

Endrick to have scans with Real sweating over injury déjà vu

Endrick agreed to join Real in 2022, with the La Liga champions set to pay €60 million to sign a player considered one of the brightest talents to ever come out of Brazil.

The 17-year-old has scored 21 times in 74 games for Palmeiras and he was selected as part of Brazil’s squad for the Copa America, having netted twice in his four caps for his country.

Endrick will have further scans this week to determine the extent of his injury and a muscle tear could keep him out of the summer tournament, as well prevent him from making a formal farewell to Palmeiras.

Real Madrid saw crucial first team players such as David Alaba, Thibaut Courtois and Eder Militao suffer long-term injuries last year, which has kept them out for the majority of this season and Carlo Ancelotti’s side will be hoping history doesn’t repeat itself with Endrick.
