The Blaugrana are in the market for a new midfielder. Still looking for a replacement for the legendary Sergio Busquets and in need of reinforcements due to frequent injury struggles Pedri and Gavi, Barcelona will strengthen their engine room this summer.

They initially planned on signing Guido Rodriguez, a traditional defensive midfielder from Real Betis, on a free transfer, but the interest in him was driven by Xavi, who has now been sacked and replaced by Hansi Flick.

The agreement Barcelona had with Rodriguez expired at the end of May and a deal is currently off the table. The Catalans also hold a long-standing interest in Bayern Munich superstar Joshua Kimmich and Flick is reportedly keen to sign him.

Intriguingly, Kimmich will actually be on the market this summer, but the German is likely too expensive for the cash-strapped club and he has been deemed 'problematic' by the scouting department.

Barca eye Stiller

Now, a new target has emerged for the Catalans, according to Sky Germany. It is asserted that Barcelona are keeping an eye on Stuttgart midfielder Angelo Stiller.

A Bayern youth product and former Hoffenheim player, the 23-year-old joined the Swabians last summer and proved transformative for their midfield, playing a massive role in their qualifying for the Champions League and finishing as Bundesliga runners-up.

Stiller isn't a traditional holding midfielder but more of a deep playmaker, yet journalist Florian Plettenberg claims that this is nevertheless an attractive profile for Barcelona.

The player is settled at Stuttgart, under contract until 2027 and doesn't have a release clause, but he is in demand after a very good season. In addition to Barcelona, several unnamed Bundesliga clubs are said to be after him.

Barcelona are 'intensively' looking into him and the player has received 'concrete' enquiries. Plettenberg predicts that the midfielder will be one to watch this summer.
