Barcelona's finances ruin another dream transfer
Barcelona consider Xavi Simons 'lost,' according to Spanish media.
The PSG attacker has yet to communicate a decision on his future, but the latest reports had claimed that the Dutchman was keen on a triumphant return to Barcelona this summer.
The La Masia product is coming off a spectacular season on loan at RB Leipzig and many of Europe's biggest hitters are keen on him. However, PSG are unwilling to sell the 21-year-old, though they will allow him to depart on loan again.

Barcelona, the club most prominently linked with the 10-goal, 15-assist youngster, were heartened by the news that the prodigy was keen on returning to Catalunya.
The club's dire financial situation, however, means that a deal, even on loan, looks unrealistic right now.
Barcelona can't afford Xavi
It is claimed that Barcelona would have only seriously considered a move for Simons on favourable conditions, but the money required to sign him and PSG's unwillingness to do business with the Blaugrana, mean that the Catalans now consider the player 'lost.'
Sport reports that Simons is yet to make a final decision on his next step and, contrary to what was initially reported, likely won't make up his mind before Euro 2024, meaning that a move will only materialise once the transfer window officially opens in July.

Additionally, it is asserted that Bayern Munich are now in pole position, with director Max Eberl, the man who brought Simons to Leipzig, doing everything he can to make a deal possible, with the Bavarians hoping to secure a loan with a purchase option if not an outright permanent deal.
PSG are thought to have changed their tune regarding a summer sale due to Xavi having no desire whatsoever to line up for the Ligue 1 champions. He does not believe that they can offer him an important role in the team and he doesn't want to waste a year after two spectacular seasons, first with PSV and then Leipzig.
