The eye-watering amount of money paid by Kylian Mbappe to the French state has been revealed.

Arguably the greatest player in the world right now, Mbappe is also one of the most marketable, recognisable and desirable faces in sport. As such, the Frenchman has earned a pretty penny since bursting onto the scene at AS Monaco.

Now one of Real Madrid's new Galacticos, the former PSG megastar has just completed football's most lucrative 'free' transfer, though his Los Blancos salary is actually lower than what he used to earn in his home country.

It has been reported that the 25-year-old will make a whopping € 288,000 per week in Spain's capital, while he also stands to receive a signing-on fee of €150 million, spread across his five-year contract.

Mbappe's tax bill

As one of the wealthiest people in football, Mbappe has had to forfeit a fair chunk of his income in taxes. Indeed, it has been rumoured in Spain that Real Madrid have been lobbying for the regional government to pass the 'Mbappe Law' to ease the tax burden on the new arrival.

Los Blancos did similar two years after David Beckham joined, effecting the passing of a law to allow foreigners who moved to Spain to pay a fixed personal income tax rate of 24% irrespective of earnings.

Regardless of whether this will or will not materialise, French outlet BFMTV claims to know how much Mbappe has paid the French state since 2017. It is asserted that the former PSG man has had to shell out an eye-watering €261m in taxes.

No wonder, then, that French president Emmanuel Macron was first to know when Mbappe's Real Madrid move would be confirmed and that the relationship between the two is said to be healthy.
