Alphonso Davies U-turn? Real Madrid target breaks silence
Alphonso Davies' relationship with Vincent Kompany could keep the left-back at Bayern Munich.
The Canadian is out of contract in the summer and this has been the cause for rampant speculation in the capital of Bavaria. Since 2023, German and Spanish media have reported on the 23-year-old ad nauseam due to Real Madrid's interest in the player.
Talks regarding a new deal hit a low point in the spring after Bayern issued an ultimatum that eventually passed without consequences and there was even a rapprochement when Vincent Kompany was named the club's new head coach.

Some positive discussions followed and Bayern decided to head into the new season with Davies on board despite the fact that the two parties are no closer to reaching an agreement.
The German giants still have no intention of meeting Davies' hefty €20 million per season wage demands, but sporting director Christoph Freund recently insisted that "the door is definitely not closed" regarding a new round of talks and a potential compromise.
Davies heaps praise on Kompany
BILD now believes that Davies' relationship with Kompany could prove crucial in getting him to make a significant U-turn on his future. The German outlet points to recent comments made by the Canadian to The Athletic as a potential sign that he could stay.
Quizzed about Kompany, Davies responded: “He is a very brilliant guy. The way that we’re playing now is very intense. He picks the best team and the best players to put on the team that train well. Every training session is a battle for the starting spot. Nothing is guaranteed. The way he talks to the team, he is polite but firm. He has ideas and we’re executing them well.”

Davies also recently told BILD on his future: "My full focus is on this team. I'm playing here at Bayern Munich now and that's what I'm concentrating on. I want to win every game. That's why I'm not thinking about it at the moment. Regardless of whether I stay or leave, I will always carry this club in my heart."
