Romano confirms Barcelona 'on track' for mega double deal
Barcelona are closing in on new contracts for Pedri and Gavi, according to Fabrizio Romano.
The two midfielders are both now back to full fitness. Pedri suffered an injury setback at Euro 2024 with Spain but has been crucial for the Blaugrana this season.
Gavi, meanwhile, made his return from a year-long absence due to an ACL injury recently and started his first game against Celta Vigo on Saturday in what ultimately proved not a particularly happy occasion as Barcelona surrendered a comfortable two-goal lead.

Still, there was a general relief to see the 20-year-old back starting for the club given how important he was for the Catalans prior to his lengthy spell on the sidelines.
Both have captained the side at times this season, illustrating the important roles they occupy in the plans of head coach Hansi Flick. Unsurprisingly, then, Barcelona want to make sure that they are tied to the club long-term.
Pedri, Gavi set for new deals
Talks over new contracts for the pair have been going on behind the scenes for some time as confirmed by president Joan Laporta last month. Now, Fabrizio Romano reports that the new deals are firmly 'on track.'
Barcelona, the Italian claims, are 'advancing' in talks with the midfielders and they will be the next stars to be rewarded with fresh terms. Their current contracts both expire in 2026.

Pedri moved to the club from Las Palmas in 2019, while Gavi joined Barcelona's La Masia academy from Real Betis in 2015. The two have become some of the most impressive young midfielders in the game in Catalunya and it seems that they will remain with the club for the foreseeable future.
Barcelona are also thought to be in talks with Ronald Araujo and Frenkie de Jong over new contracts.
