LaLiga boasts a host of football's biggest stars and some of them could be on the move in January.

The winter window is generally a more low-key affair than its summer counterpart, but there are always, unfailingly, one or two big surprises. The 2025 January window promises to be no different.

LaLiga, due to its strict financial rules, often forces clubs into last-minute transfer manoeuvres and Barcelona in particular have had to get creative in recent years.

Indeed, they will have to come up with something again as they need to find a way to raise the necessary funds to be able to register summer signing Dani Olmo for the second half of the season. But the Blaugrana are not the only club that could be active in January.

Below, FootballTransfers looks at five La Liga players who could move in January...

Andreas Christensen (Barcelona)

Let's start with Barcelona. As mentioned, Dani Olmo has only been registered for the first half of the season as the Blaugrana utilised Article 77 of LaLiga's rules to include the summer signing in their squad.

Barcelona were able to exploit an injury Andreas Christensen suffered and managed to free up enough financial room to temporarily register Olmo for the Dane.

However, with the registration set to expire, they will have to find a new solution and the most likely outcome is a potential sale. Christensen is one of the prime candidates to get sacrificed and is said to have suitors all around Europe.

Out of all the Barcelona players linked with an exit in 2025, he is the most realistic one to depart in January.

Jesus Vallejo (Real Madrid)

Defender Jesus Vallejo is Real Madrid's forgotten man. Expected to be a squad player after his return from Grenada and following the departures of Nacho and Rafa Marin, the 27-year-old can even hardly be called a squad player at this point.

Vallejo is Real Madrid's first-team player with the least minutes played this season and even during the club's defensive injury crisis, Carlo Ancelotti preferred to use Castilla youngster Raul Asencio over the more senior Spaniard.

It would be quite surprising to see Vallejo still at Real Madrid when the January window slams shut.

Martin Zubimendi (Real Sociedad)

Liverpool became the latest club to try and fail to lure Martin Zubimendi away from boyhood club Real Sociedad in the summer. Just like Arsenal and Real Madrid before, the Reds were snubbed by the midfielder.

However, Premier League interest remains, with Man City supposedly having joined Arsenal and Liverpool in the race to sign him, and reports have suggested that the player is now ready to move.

That said, a summer move appears the more likely scenario, but it seems that even a shock January transfer can't be entirely ruled out.

Antoine Griezmann (Atletico Madrid)

Easily the biggest name on this list, Antoine Griezmann is edging closer to leaving his beloved Atletico Madrid in the foreseeable future. Though he still has a contract until 2026, there are persistent rumours that 2025 will be his final year in Spain's capital.

Griezmann still wants to play in Major League Soccer at some point in his career and Spanish media insists that US franchises will make offers for the Frenchman in 2025, perhaps already in January to have him available for the full MLS season.

However, given that Griezmann is still a talismanic figure for Atleti, it would likely take a significant transfer fee to prise him away mid-season, which casts some doubt on the feasibility of a winter move.

Christantus Uche (Getafe)

Versatile Getafe attacker Christantus Uche has been one of the breakout stars of this LaLiga season. Unsurprisingly, then, he has been the subject of plenty of transfer speculation.

The Nigerian youngster has been heavily linked with a move to Chelsea in 2025, with the Blues reportedly ready to trigger his €25 million release clause.

Getafe would prefer to keep hold of the 21-year-old but if they must sell, they are determined to make him their biggest-ever sale.
