Paris Saint-Germain are keeping a close eye on Rodrygo and want to make an attempt to sign the attacker from Real Madrid.

According to French media, including RMC Sport, the Parisian club see him as a key player and are therefore prepared to reopen negotiations. In 2023, PSG were already interested, but all offers were swept off the table in Madrid.

Due to interest from several major clubs, Real Madrid decided to extend the Brazilian's contract until 2028. A release clause of no less than €1 billion was included in that agreement. The club wanted to send a clear signal that Rodrygo was not for sale.

PSG's interest is reportedly not just for sporting reasons. The signing of Rodrygo is also seen as a kind of 'revenge' for the departure of Kylian Mbappe.

The Frenchman decided to leave Paris last summer and sign for Los Blancos on a free transfer. He now plays alongside Rodrygo and Vinicius Junior in attack for Carlo Ancelotti's team.

PSG want Mbappe revenge

Luis Enrique, the coach of Les Parisiens, is a big supporter of Rodrygo's arrival. The Spaniard views the 23-year-old winger as a 'fundamental player' to lead his attack.

PSG are willing to give the 31-time Brazil international a prominent role and offer him a salary that is much higher than what he earns in the Spanish capital.

Initially, the intention was to make concrete contact for Rodrygo in the summer, but a blockbuster winter transfer is now no longer ruled out.

However, reaching an agreement with Real Madrid will be anything but easy. The Madrilenians are only prepared to sell if the winger himself agrees to leave and if an interested club pays the prohibitive amount of his buyout clause.

This, then, makes a January move highly unlikely.
