The Italian journalist has given his customary 'Here We Go' treatment to confirm that the Brazil legend is returning to his first love.

With Al-Hilal confirming on Tuesday that they have terminated Neymar's contract with immediate effect, Romano says the 32-year-old will sign for Santos on a free transfer.

The attacker will now travel for a medical and sign as a new Santos player.

Neymar's professional career started at Santos, the club of the great Pele, and now things have come full circle.

For years, Santos have flirted with the idea of bringing back the 32-year-old megastar and Neymar himself has never made a secret of his desire to one day return.

Over the past week or two, Santos stepped up the pursuit of their former wonderkid to celebrate their return to Brazil's Serie A with a bang.

It came after Al-Hilal decided not to register their €90 million signing for the second half of the Saudi Pro League campaign due to his persistent injuries.

Negotiations are now complete, according to Romano, and Neymar will return to play for Santos.

The former PSG winger and his father are also expected to join an investment fund linked to Santos, according to L'Equipe.

Neymar at Al-Hilal

Neymar joined Al-Hilal from PSG in 2023 for a record fee of €90m but his time in Saudi Arabia has been a disaster.

Due to an ACL rupture and a subsequent muscle injury, the Brazilian only made a handful of appearances for Al-Hilal. He scored just one goal and created two assists in seven appearances.

His contract with the Riyadh giants was due to expire at the end of the season, and Al-Hilal have now decided to cut their losses.

Neymar is expected to be an ambassador for the 2034 World Cup in the Kingdom and was keen to leave Al-Hilal on good terms.
