Bellingham completed a €103 million transfer from Borussia Dortmund to Real Madrid earlier this summer, creating a huge expectation on the 20-year-old England international to be a centrepiece of Los Blancos in the years to come. He will wear the No.5 jersey that was once the great Zinedine Zidane’s.

Beckham understands the pressure that is on the young midfielder’s shoulders, having moved from Manchester United to the 14-time Champions League winners in 2003 in one of the most high-profile deals of all time.

Beckham lands Messi

Bellingham is currently working his way back from injury, which saw him miss England’s European qualifying matches this summer, but he is hopeful that he will be able to make his Real Madrid debut on 29 July in a Clasico encounter against Barcelona in Texas.

He stands to miss encounters against AC Milan and Manchester United, which take place in the week before that match.

Beckham, who won 115 caps for England over 13 years, has had a successful summer in the role of Inter Miami owner, attracting Lionel Messi to the struggling MLS franchise.

Messi’s arrival in MLS, which has not been officially announced, is considered to be a watershed moment for soccer in the US, much like the arrival of Beckham himself, who left Real Madrid to join the LA Galaxy in 2012 - a transfer that lifted the league to a new level of popularity.
