Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer feels buoyed by his side’s victory over Tottenham Hotspur and is adamant that he’s never let criticisms of his job at the club impact him.

The Old Trafford boss was under immense pressure going into Saturday’s clash with Spurs, following a 5-0 defeat to Liverpool in the previous matchday.

However, Tottenham proved to be a useful opponent by doing very little to stop Man Utd from putting together a comprehensive 3-0 victory - a result that led to Spurs manager Nuno Espirito Santo losing his job.

As such, ahead of a tough tie against Atalanta in the Champions League on Tuesday and then the Manchester derby at the weekend, Solskjaer was seemingly in better spirits after watching his team pick up their first league victory since September 19.

'One swallow does not make a summer'

"Criticism can make you doubt yourself or you can stand up for yourself,” said Solskjaer at a press conference on Monday.

“I've always enjoyed it, keep it coming. We've all got different jobs and it is their jobs to give their opinion. I am not here to fight with anyone."

If Man Utd can win on Tuesday night, it will be the first time since early September that the club would have managed to string two, consecutive victories together.

Which goes some way to showcasing just how inconsistent the Old Trafford club have been under Solskjaer this season.

However, as desperate as that may sound, the Man Utd manager believes a run of good results is vital for his team’s chances of winning silverware this season and a second victory in a row could be a huge factor ahead of their clash with Man City at the weekend.

"Next one is the one which matters,” said Solskjaer in reference to the coming European test in midweek.

“We know when we get consistency we will get results. One swallow does not make a summer. It is a chance tomorrow to prove we can go again."
