What is PSG’s Champions League squad?
Make no mistake about it, Paris Saint-Germain are undoubtedly one of the favourites for this season’s Champions League title.
With the goal of dominating European football long been the main ambition of the club, PSG have signed giants like Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Neymar and Kylian Mbappe in a bid to overcome all other teams across the continent.
Having reached the final in 2020, the French giants then stumbled in the semi-finals last season when they were undone by Manchester City in the semi-finals. Anything but another spot in the final will be seen as failure for Mauricio Pochettino and his star-studded side.
Lionel Messi, Sergio Ramos, Gianluigi Donnarumma, and Georginio Wijnaldum have all arrived on free transfers, while flying right-back Achraf Hakimi has also joined the club for €60 million, plus add-ons.
Thanks to finishing second in Ligue 1 last season, PSG were placed in pot two for the draw, which has meant they will face Man City in the group stages this time around. RB Leipzig and Club Brugge make up the rest of Group A.
They will, of course, be expected to progress into the knockout stages, and have included several homegrown stars in the squad, perhaps just in case qualification is secured before the final group game - Xavi Simons is one such player.
