'Lukaku should learn from Havertz' - How Twitter reacted to Kai Havertz's goal vs Lille
Thomas Tuchel's decision to drop Romelu Lukaku in favour of Kai Havertz for the first-leg of Chelsea's last-16 Champions League tie with Lille was rewarded just minutes into the game.
From a seventh minute Hakim Ziyech corner, Havertz rose highest inside the Lille penalty area, and powered home a header to put Chelsea 1-0 up. It was the German's second goal in the competition this season, and his seventh in all competitions for the Blues.
Lukaku was dropped to the bench following a poor showing against Crystal Palace in the Premier League at the weekend. Belgium's all-time record goal-scorer managed just seven touches during the game, despite playing the entirety of the 90 minutes.
Tuchel revealed before the game that Lukaku was dropped due to being "exhausted" but his poor form may have played a part in the decision to start Havertz.
With Havertz scoring against Lille, how did Twitter react?

Look at Havertz’s workrate. Lukaku let’s Botman take that ball down.

Lukaku should be on the line with Tuchel so he can be watching and learning from Havertz on how to get himself involved with the squad

😝 Kai Havertz has touched the ball more times (8) in the opening 15 minutes of Chelsea’s #UCL game this evening than Romelu Lukaku managed in 90 minutes vs Crystal Palace at the weekend (7). And he’s scored…

FOR EVERY HAVERTZ SUCCESS, LUKAKU IS IN TROUBLE

Kai Havertz already dropping deep to help create a great, fluid move for Chelsea.

Sorry but why in earth does Lukaku even deserve to come back into a team like this? Havertz on fire, he presses, links well with Ziyech and Pulisic. I mean really why change things for a log of wood upfront

Havertz is silky, graceful even. Glides across the ground. Different position, but Hoddleesque in some ways.

We've signed a £100m striker only to realize Havertz is totally okay as a real number 9.
He's not a "false 9" by any means, he plays and moves like a real striker. https://t.co/sWaNmaSI59— ExpectedChelsea (@ExpectedChelsea) February 22, 2022
Were Kai Havertz and Jadon Sancho actually good all along? 😳

Kai Havertz has done more in 7 minutes than Lukaku did in 90… ✍️
