How Mbappe could force Arsenal and Spurs into €30m transfer question

Regardless of whichever one of them manages to finish in the top four this season, there is bound to be plenty of transfer business at Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur this summer.
Mikel Arteta’s squad is in the midst of a rebuild which will likely see them lose their first-choice striker, while Spurs will undoubtedly be determined to bring in the players that Antonio Conte believes he needs to make real strides in the Premier League next season.

However, while the club are often linked with the same players, one star from Spain that could end up leading to both London rivals locking horns ahead of next season is none other than Real Madrid forward Marco Asensio.
And, oddly enough, it could be a transfer decision that both clubs will be forced to decide on all thanks to Paris Saint-Germain striker Kylian Mbappe.
Consequences of Madrid’s move for Mbappe
As much of European football has now come to expect, Mbappe will likely sign for Madrid in the summer on a free transfer.
However, while that may be greeted with joyous applause by Madrid fans, not everyone at the club will be happy about it.
According to El Nacional, the move will likely mean a front three of Mbappe, Vinicius Jr and Karim Benzema next season, which means Asensio will likely drop to the bench and see his game time be significantly reduced.
As such, the Spanish publication are reporting that with one year left on his contract, the attacking midfielder will push for a departure from Los Blancos in the summer.
Reports in Spain indicate that Arsenal and Spurs are the two leading contenders for Asensio, which means they may be forced into seriously considering whether or not to make a move for the player, who Madrid reportedly value at €30 million.
