What is the transfer value of Bruno Fernandes?
Bruno Fernandes has just signed a contract extension at Manchester United - making him one of the best-paid players at the club and securing his future until 2027.
The midfielder has enjoyed a rich vein of form since he joined United in January 2020. His goal contribution record has been nothing short of ridiculous and betters that of many out-and-out strikers: he’s scored 49 goals in 117 appearances for Man Utd and made 39 assists.
REVEALED: The transfer values of football's top stars
Although he had to prove he could adapt to the Premier League, few who watched him in Portugal for his previous club, Sporting CP, should be surprised by his output: there he scored 63 goals and made 52 assists in just 137 appearances.
Fernandes' new contract more than doubles his wage at United and reflects how crucial he’s become to the side; he’s not going anywhere soon.
Of course, he won't be sold any time soon, but if he were hypothetically available on the transfer market, what would a club expect to pay for him?
How much is Bruno Fernandes worth?
Since joining Sporting in 2017 for just €8.5m from Sampdoria, Bruno has been consistently one of the most productive - in hard numbers - attacking midfielders in Europe. The hefty €55m fee Man Utd paid to Sporting represented a superb return on investment for the Portuguese side, but that too is starting to look like a bargain.
Now, FootballTransfers values Bruno at €79m. This figure is based on a formula that uses hundreds of in-game data points as well as external factors such as age and contract length.
As such, Bruno’s peak valuation was at €88m in November 2021, and has dipped since as Man Utd’s pursuit of silverware - as well as their standing in the Premier League - has faltered this season.
Equally, when his new deal is made official, expect his valuation to bounce up a little in line with the extra security that the Red Devils have for their playmaker.
That said, don’t expect the red side of Manchester to be accepting any offers for their recently renewed star anytime soon - no matter how large.
