Man Utd in Antony transfer talks after Nunez hopes fade
Manchester United have turned their attention to Brazilian winger Antony after appearing to miss out on Darwin Nunez to Liverpool.
Representatives for Antony have reportedly flown out to Europe in order to thrash out a deal with United for the Ajax winger, who would cost around €60 million.
United were believed to have made a last ditch attempt to sign Nunez after he agreed personal terms with Liverpool but the Benfica striker prefers the prospect of Champions League football.
With United's rivals strengthening, new boss Erik ten Hag is believed to be keen on reuniting with the player who scored 17 goals in 55 games under him at Ajax.
Will Antony become Erik ten Hag's first signing?
United are desperate for a forward this summer and are hoping for swift negotiations due to their strong relationship with Ajax.
Personal terms are not thought to be an issue, with Antony excited at the chance to move to England and link up with the manager who brought him to Europe in 2020.
The 22-year-old has been capped nine times by Brazil and got 12 goals and 8 assists in all competitions last season as Ajax won a third straight league title.

United have also allegedly made a bid in excess of €60m for another of Ten Hag's former players in Barcelona's Frenkie De Jong.
While Barcelona are reluctant to sell, they are desperate for the funds and manager Xavi is rumoured to be planning for life next season without the Dutch midfielder.
However, the 25-year-old is unconvinced by a move to Old Trafford or indeed any side without Champions League football and may resist any offers from the club.
Nunez, meanwhile, is set to join Liverpool in a deal worth €100m despite United reportedly meeting with his agent in the hopes of hijacking the deal.
