Bayern take on Barcelona in the Champions League group stage on Tuesday.

The big talking point ahead of the game will be the return of Lewandowski to Munich just weeks after leaving the club in a controversial move this summer.

Lewandowski and Bayern were at loggerheads for much of the summer before the Poland international completed a €50 million move to Camp Nou.

The striker had issued a transfer request early in the summer but Bayern had initially wanted to keep him.

A war of words erupted publicly before Bayern accepted defeat and allowed Lewandowski to leave.

But Salihamidzic doesn’t want Lewandowski to be treated badly by Bayern fans.

What did Salihamidzic say?

“What kind of reception for Lewandowski? Robert won everything with us. I wouldn’t boo him. The fans will appreciate that,” Salihamidzic said according to Diario Sport.

“I’m looking forward to it. I hope we’ll have an attractive game. These are the kind of games you work for every day.”

The 34-year-old Lewandowski enjoyed eight brilliant years at Bayern, winning eight straight league titles and scoring 344 goals in 375 games.

He has made a brilliant start to his career with Barcelona, scoring nine goals and providing two assists in just six games.

Both Barcelona and Bayern made good starts to their Champions League campaign.

Barca thrashed Viktoria Plzen 5-1, with Lewandowski scoring a hat-trick.

Bayern won 2-0 at San Siro against Inter Milan thanks to a goal from Leroy Sane and own goal from Danilo D’Ambrosio.
