Paris Saint-Germain have announced that they have terminated the contract of Jese Rodriguez.

The Spaniard’s deal was due to expire at the end of the 2020-21 season but the Ligue 1 giants have agreed to release him midway through the current campaign.

Jese joined PSG in 2016 for a fee of €25 million but failed to ever make an impact at Parc des Princes.

In total, he made just 18 appearances for the first team, scoring two goals. This season he appeared only twice for Thomas Tuchel’s men.

The 27-year-old temporarily wore the shirts of Las Palmas, Stoke City, Real Betis and Sporting Lisbon but he never showed the kind of form that once made him one of the most promising youngsters at Real Madrid.

Jese exploded in the 2013-14 season for Madrid but never fully recovered his best form after a serious anterior cruciate ligament injury during that campaign.

He also endured some high-profile issues off the pitch but will be hoping at the relatively young age of 27 he still has time to resurrect his career.

Meanwhile, PSG have been increasingly linked with Lionel Messi in recent days.
