PSG: A good chance Mbappe will snub Real Madrid
PSG transfer chief Leonardo says that Kylian Mbappe could still sign a new contract and stay at PSG, rather than join Real Madrid.
Mbappe was involved in the biggest transfer saga of the summer as he attempted to push through a move to La Liga giants Real Madrid.
In the end the transfer didn’t go through but Mbappe is widely expected to still move to the Santiago Bernabeu at the end of the season on a Bosman.
Mbappe’s contract at PSG expires in June and he has repeatedly rejected offers of an extension.
What did Leonardo say about Mbappe to Real Madrid?
However, PSG sporting director Leonardo says that the Ligue 1 club have not given up hope and want to keep Mbappe “as long as possible, although it is a very particular situation because we’re talking about the best player in the world who’s about to end his contract.”
“I have a very direct relationship with Mbappe,” Leonardo told reporters.

“I admit that there have been times where we’ve argued in a more heated way.
“But that’s part of how a relationship is built. If he decides to stay, he’ll stay because it’s what we want.
“I think they’re all going about this in a very calm way. But it’s a complicated situation because while we’d like him to stay for a lifetime we have to respect him. I think we still have a good chance.”
Mbappe signed for PSG from Monaco in a €180m deal in 2017, joining the same summer as Neymar, who transferred for a world record €222m.
He has won three Ligue 1 titles during his time at the club, as well as the World Cup for the France national team.
