PSG put SEVEN up for sale in January cull
Paris Saint-Germain are set to reshape their squad in January by putting as many as seven players on the transfer market.
With a bloated squad that contains far more players than Mauricio Pochettino needs, PSG will seek to downsize in the forthcoming transfer window.
Although they have put seven players on the market, they have aspirations of moving on a minimum of three.
Among those who could leave are international stars of some repute, so clubs around Europe will be taking note.
Who will PSG sell in January?
According to FootMercato, Mauro Icardi is the highest profile of the players who could be on the move.
The Argentina international has struggled for game time because of the arrival of Lionel Messi, which has pushed Kylian Mbappe into a centre-forward role. When he has been given a chance to shine, he has struggled, scoring only three goals in 15 appearances and doing little else of note.
Indeed, it has been his off-field antics with wife and agent Wanda Nara that have caught the headlines this season.
The report states that his agents are working to offload him to Newcastle, Barcelona, Tottenham and, of course, Juventus – effectively anywhere there may be an interest.
Greater movement will come in the midfield, where there is an excess of talent. Rafinha’s future lies away from the club after he was hastily signed in the summer of 2019 while Leandro Paredes’ inconsistent form means he could also be shipped out.
In defence, Abdou Diallo and Thilo Kehrer are both on the market, though PSG will not sell both, while left-back Layvin Kurzawa has barely been seen this season. The France international has fallen well down the pecking order and can leave.
Goalkeeper Sergio Rico is the final member of PSG’s seven-man transfer list, and along with Icardi and Rafinha is one of the most expendable.
It promises to be a busy month for PSG.
