Thauvin responds hysterically to Real Madrid transfer talk
Florian Thauvin has seen the funny side of a rumour linking the Marseille star with a move to Real Madrid this summer.
Thauvin is set to be one of the hottest properties in this summer’s market as his contract at the Stade Velodrome expires in June.
AC Milan are confirmed admirers of the winger but Real Madrid have also been linked with the player.
A report in Spain over the weekend stated that Thauvin’s agents and intermediaries had offered the 28-year-old to Madrid.
However, this offer had been rejected by Zinedine Zidane and the club because it was deemed that they already had plenty of players in his position.
Thauvin has now rubbished the report but has taken the story with good grace.
“Is that so? LOL! Thanks for the laugh in any case,” he tweeted on his official account.
Thauvin has scored seven goals in 22 Ligue 1 games this season.
He has spent eight years with Marseille during two spells at the club, with an unsuccessful six months at Newcastle United sandwiched in between.
He has also been capped 10 times by France, scoring one goal since debuting in 2017.
