Mbappe’s PSG take on Benzema’s Madrid in the tie of the round, with the first leg taking place at the Parc des Princes.

The biggest sub-plot ahead of the game revolves around the future of Mbappe.

Mbappe’s contract at PSG expires in June and he has repeatedly rejected offers of an extension.

WHO ARE THE MOST VALUABLE PLAYERS IN THE WORLD?

The World Cup winner was involved in the biggest transfer saga of last summer as he attempted to push through a move to La Liga giants Real Madrid.

In the end the transfer didn’t go through but Mbappe is widely expected to still move to the Santiago Bernabeu at the end of the season on a Bosman.

HOW PSG & REAL MADRID COULD LINE UP

Indeed, reports have been rife over the last fortnight that Mbappe has already signed a pre-contract with Madrid.

Benzema has now added further fuel to the fire.

What did Benzema say?

“I hope he plays a great match and plays as he knows how to play”, Benzema told reporters.

“It’s a very big game and playing against Kylian is special.

“Everyone knows that one day he can come to Madrid.”

It was reported on January Deadline Day that Mbappe has already penned an agreement on a six-year contract with Madrid that will see him earn a mouth-watering €50 million-a-year in the Spanish capital.

Mbappe has denied this talk and says he is only focused on eliminating Real Madrid in the Champions League.

As for Benzema, he has been passed fit to play in Paris after a recent spell out injured on the sidelines.

Both Mbappe and Benzema have been the key players for their respective sides this season, while they also linked up fantastically together as France won the UEFA Nations League.
