The two biggest names in world football, Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi, could become team-mates at Paris Saint-Germain next season.

At the moment, Ronaldo is at Manchester United, while Messi is still in his first season at PSG, having joined the French giants from Barcelona in the summer.

FootballTransfers exclusively revealed that the Portuguese superstar is considering leaving Man Utd at the conclusion of this season, and that he will definitely depart if the club fail to qualify for the Champions League.

Returns to Real Madrid, Juventus and Sporting CP have been mentioned, but it is believed that Ronaldo's ideal destination would be PSG.

Should that happen, it would see Ronaldo team up with the player that he has been compared and contrasted with his entire career - Messi.

When the pair were vying for trophies and individual accomplishments at Real Madrid and Barcelona in particular, it seemed impossible that we would ever see them feature in the same team together.

However, circumstances may align to make it happen as early as this summer.

It seems inevitable at some point that Gianluigi Donnarumma will take over from Keylor Navas as the club's number one between the sticks.

The Italian arrived on a free transfer from Milan last summer, but has had to share goalkeeping duties with Navas.

Achraf Hakimi is one of the best full-backs/wing-backs in the world and will take up the right-back spot at PSG for years to come.

On the opposite side, it is looking likely that PSG will sign Nuno Mendes on a permanent basis from Sporting CP.

With Sergio Ramos barely playing since his move from Real Madrid, Marquinhos and Presnel Kimpembe will retain their spots in the middle of the defence.

The Ligue 1 leaders will probably purchase a new central midfielder, but from the players currently at the club, the trio in the centre could be Marco Verratti, Idrissa Gueye and Danilo Pereira.

Georginio Wijnaldum will likely be sold.

At the moment, PSG have a superstar front three of Neymar, Kylian Mbappe and Messi.

They will lose Mbappe this summer when he joins Real Madrid, and so Ronaldo will step into his spot up front.
