PSG looked to be strolling into the quarter-finals as they led 2-0 on aggregate in the Santiago Bernabeu with half-an-hour to go.

WHAT IS THE TRANSFER VALUE OF EVERY FOOTBALL PLAYER?

However, Karim Benzema scored a seventeen-minute hat-trick for Madrid as PSG collapsed in the latter stages of the game to lose 3-2 on aggregate.

Messi and Neymar were the two PSG players who were most targeted by the media and fans in the aftermath of the disappointment.

In PSG’s first game since the Madrid defeat, Messi and Neymar were constantly targeted by home fans in the 3-0 win over Bordeaux on Sunday afternoon.

The South American pair were whistled and heckled every time they touched the ball.

Even when Neymar scored to double PSG’s lead after 52 minutes, he was booed by supporters.

Kylian Mbappe, who scored PSG’s opener, was received warmly by fans. Leandro Paredes hit PSG’s third.

It has been a chaotic last few days for PSG, with Ultras calling for president Nasser Al-Khelaifi to resign and sporting director Leonardo and manager Mauricio Pochettino expected to leave in the summer.

Messi and Neymar’s futures are also in doubt.

The Argentine has been a big disappointment since joining on a Bosman Transfer from Barcelona last summer.

It took him until November 20 to score his first Ligue 1 goal and by the turn of the year, the 34-year-old only had one league goal and four assists (three of these assists coming in one game).

Even now, in the middle of March, Messi has still scored just two Ligue 1 goals this season, although he did bag five strikes in seven games in the Champions League.

Neymar has also shown signs of decline this term, scoring just five goals in all competitions and none in the Champions League.
