Sergio Ramos has endured an injury-troubled time at Paris Saint-Germain since joining last July, being limited to only seven appearances across all competitions and missing a majority of the season.

His lack of availability has been a source of frustration to the PSG fans, who think the club have made another novelty signing, and that annoyance intensified after the club’s Champions League exit.

That hasn’t, however, stopped him from being optimistic and hoping for a long-term career, with the 36-year-old saying he’s still got plenty left to offer in the coming years.

Ramos' says he wants to extend PSG stay

Speaking to Ludovic Giuly on Amazon Prime, the Spaniard says he wants to play at this level for another four years, and that he wants to add another year on top of his two-year deal at the Parc de Princes.

“I’d like to play for another four to five years at a high level, and then experience something else.

“I have two years here in Paris, we’ll try to make that three! One more, and then we’ll see.

“But as long as the body holds up, I think I can keep my head well focused.”

The signing of Ramos was always seen as a risk by PSG, and it hasn’t paid off.

It was clear to see the defender was struggling with injury problems in his final season at Real Madrid, where he made only 21 appearances across all competitions.

This was his most injury-riddled season, as he had played at least 33 matches over his previous 15 seasons at the club.

The injury problems also meant that he was excluded from Luis Enrique’s Spain squad that reached the semi-finals of Euro 2020 – the first tournament he had missed out on for the national team since Euro 2004.

Ramos’ relationship hasn’t been the best with the PSG supporters recently – in a match against Lorient earlier this month, he was jeered as he came off the bench and every touch of his was whistled.
