Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel confirmed recently that Rudiger is leaving the club at the end of the season.

The German centre back rejected a number of lucrative contract offers to renew his deal and will now depart when his contract expires on June 30.

Rudiger will become the latest in a long line of impressive free transfer signings by Madrid, following the equally fantastic capture of David Alaba from Bayern Munich last year.

But Rudiger will almost certainly not be the only high-profile free transfer arrival at the Santiago Bernabeu this summer.

Kylian Mbappe (Real Madrid)

PSG superstar Kylian Mbappe will almost certainly join Real Madrid on a free transfer this summer.

Mbappe has repeatedly rejected a contract renewal in Paris and it is unanimously accepted among all reliable media outlets that the France attacker has already agreed a move to Madrid.

Recent reports suggest that Mbappe will announce his transfer to Madrid on May 21, which is the final day of the Ligue 1 season.

Paul Pogba (Man Utd)

Paul Pogba has probably already played his final game for Man Utd, having picked up a calf injury that will rule him out for the rest of the season.

Pogba’s deal at Old Trafford runs out on June 30 and there is little chance of him signing an extension under incoming manager Erik ten Hag.

Real Madrid, PSG and Juventus are all in negotiations for Pogba. The 29-year-old is believed to prefer a return to Turin, but Madrid and PSG can offer better financial terms.

Boubacar Kamara (Marseille)

Antonio Rudiger may not be the only central defender that Madrid signing this summer, with manager Carlo Ancelotti specifically requesting reinforcements.

The beauty of Kamara is that he is also able to play in a defensive midfield role, which is a bonus for Madrid as they will have to find a long-term successor for Casemiro sooner rather than later.

Madrid are one of a host of top clubs who are looking at the 22-year-old, including Man Utd, Liverpool, Atletico Madrid, Aston Villa and Barcelona.

Kamara has made the decision to leave Marseille this summer when his contract expires.
