PSG opted against taking up their one-year option on the Argentine, which reportedly left him feeling ‘betrayed’ and prompting Juventus to make their move.

The Italian side are now expected to finalise terms for the 34-year-old having been in advanced talks with him over the past few weeks.

PSG chairman Nasser Al-Khelaifi said: “Angel Di Maria has definitely marked the history of the club.

“He will be remembered by supporters as a player of impeccable spirit, who showed unwavering commitment to defending our colours.”

What now for Di Maria and PSG?

Di Maria leaves PSG after seven years at the club and won 18 trophies in Paris as well as breaking the club’s record for most assists by a single player.

The former Manchester United man arrived in Paris for £44 million after just one season in England and went onto score 55 goals in 196 league games.

Juventus are expected to announce the signing of Di Maria on a one-year deal before he is expected to return to Argentina to finish his career.

For PSG, the departure of one of their senior players could be softened by the news that Kylian Mbappe is now set to remain with the club.

The 22-year-old was expected to join Real Madrid this summer however a dramatic turnaround should see the Frenchman sign a new deal with the Parisians.

The extension of Mbappe reportedly means that PSG are now out of the race for Barcelona winger Ousmane Dembele, who they were rumoured to be lining up as a replacement.

The blockbuster deal for Mbappe is rumoured to involve a €300m signing on bonus, €100m a year salary and control over the club’s sporting project including managers and transfers.
