Mbappe's PSG renewal is 'completely false' says his mother
Kylian Mbappe's mother has denied reports that her son has agreed in principle to a two-year contract extension at Paris Saint-Germain.
Mbappe, 23, is in high demand this summer with his contract at PSG set to expire at the end of this season. Real Madrid are actively pursuing a move and are trying to convince the player to ignore the offer of a new deal in Paris to join Los Blancos ahead of next campaign.
However, a report from Le Parisien has emerged which states Mbappe has agreed to a new PSG deal in principle. The extension is until 2024, with the option of a further year on top of that.
The report specifies that Mbappe will earn €50 million per year with the deal as well as a €100m signing bonus to become the world's best paid football player.
But, an unverified Twitter account under the name of Mbappe's mother, Fayza Lamari, imminently stated after Le Parisien's report that the news wasn't true. "There's no agreement in principle with PSG (or another club)," the statement reads. "The discussions over the future of Kylian are continuing under a climate of great serenity to allow him to make the best choice, with respect to all parties."
While it's not certain that tweet is from Mbappe mother, what is true is that she has since come out and spoken to Spanish newspaper Marca about the news.
Lamari has shut down the report by saying: "It is completely false that Kylian has renewed." She also added that Real Madrid "remains the first choice" for Mbappe, according to Marca.
L'Equipe believe Mbappe's mother's words were instead: "He's closer to an exit," rather than confirming he'd prefer a move to Madrid.
Will Mbappe's mother have an impact on whether he joins Real Madrid?
Mbappe's mother has played an important role in deciding his future already with trips to Doha in Qatar to speak to the PSG owners and a similar visit to Madrid in order to discuss the potential of her son joining Real Madrid.
According to FootballEspana in April, Lamari and Mbappe's father hold differing opinions on where their son should play football next year. The 23-year-old's mother wants him to make a sensational move to Real Madrid, while his father thinks he should stay put.
The player himself has repeatedly ensured he remains distanced away from the rumours and has expressed that he will come to a conclusion once he completes the 2021/22 season with PSG.
