Mauricio Pochettino will receive a significant pay-off from Paris Saint-Germain as his time at Parc des Princes draws to an end.

The Argentine took over in January 2021, and last season delivered his first Ligue 1 title following the blockbuster signing of compatriot Lionel Messi from Barcelona.

PSG finished the campaign a massive 15 points clear of nearest challengers Marseille, losing just four games, while Kylian Mbappe took the top scorer crown with 28 goals.

Mbappe also led the assists ranking in Ligue 1, setting up 17 goals. Messi struggled to reproduce his best form in front of goal but excelled as a creator as he finished just behind his team-mate with a total of 14 assists.

Utimately, however, yet another failure to deliver in the Champions League sealed Pochettino's fate.

The French side went out at the last-16 stage to eventual winners Real Madrid, throwing away a 2-0 aggregate advantage in the second leg as a 17-minute Karim Benzema hat-trick prompted their latest European disappointment.

PSG are still yet to get their hands on the Champions League title 11 years after the arrival of the Qatar Investment Authority, who have made the club one of the richest in world football and invested hundreds of millions in playing talent.

How much will Pochettino receive?

The ex-Tottenham boss still has a year to run on his contract at PSG, meaning that he is entitled to compensation if the club decides to cut short his tenure.

According to Le Parisien that sum will run to €15m, with part of that sum going to Pochettino's backroom staff.

PSG are in no rush to announce the Argentine's departure, preferring to move once they have a successor in place to take over.

The identity of their new coach is still unknown, although ex-Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane and Nice's Christophe Galtier are among the front-runners to take over from Pochettino for 2022-23.
