Zinedine Zidane's agent responds to PSG contract talk speculation
Zinedine Zidane's agent has responded to the reports suggesting his client is set to meet with Paris Saint-Germain's owners in Qatar as he continues to be linked to the head coach job.
Mauricio Pochettino is still PSG's head coach, but it's been widely reported that he will be replaced this summer after a disappointing season saw the club knocked out of the Champions League at the last-16 stage, as the competition continues to allude them.
As a result, they have reportedly turned to Zidane, who led Real Madrid to Champions League glory in three successive years between 2016 and 2018.
The former France international has previously been touted for the Juventus job, following his time as a player there, and for the French national team role.
However, the PSG job is now the one he's been most heavily linked with, and Mundo Deportivo have reported that Zidane has flown to Qatar to sign a contract with the club.
But, this report has been bashed down by Zidane's advisor, Alain Migliaccio.
What has Zidane's agent said?
He told L'Equipe: "All these rumours that circulate are unfounded. To date, I am the only person admitted to represent and advise Zinedine Zidane. Neither Zinedine Zidane nor I have been contacted directly by the PSG owner."
He added: "I also strongly doubt that His Majesty the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamin bin Hamad Al Thani, is used to going through social networks or the media to manage his affairs and make crucial decisions about the future of PSG. I'm not even sure he's really interested in Zinedine Zidane coming."
Zidane has been out of work since the end of the 2020/21 season, with his replacement, Carlo Ancelotti, winning the Champions League for the second time with Los Blancos, and the fourth time in his illustrious managerial career.
As for PSG, they were beaten by Ancelotti's side thanks to a late Karim Benzema hat-trick in the second-leg in the Champions League last-16, and although they regained the Ligue 1 title, Pochettino hasn't delivered on expectations.
