Official: Pochettino sacked, Galtier appointed at PSG
Mauricio Pochettino has been sacked as manager of PSG and replaced by Christophe Galtier, the club has confirmed.
The Argentine’s days at the club were numbered ever since PSG’s stunning collapse to Real Madrid in last season’s Champions League.
It has long been accepted that Pochettino was to be relieved of his duties and that has now been confirmed on Tuesday.

Pochettino has been officially succeeded in Paris by former Saint-Etienne, Lille and Nice coach Christophe Galtier.
Galtier has signed a two-year contract until 2024.

Pochettino took over at PSG in January 2021, replacing Thomas Tuchel – who departed to join Chelsea that same month.
It was hoped that the Argentine would mould together a star-studded squad that boasted the likes of Kylian Mbappe, Neymar, Marco Verratti and then Lionel Messi, who signed on a free transfer in the summer of 2021.
However, Pochettino never won over his players, fans or the media in a difficult 18-month spell.
He did deliver the Ligue 1 title this past season, finishing the campaign a massive 15 points clear of nearest challengers Marseille and losing just four games, while Kylian Mbappe took the top scorer crown with 28 goals.
But he failed miserably in the Champions League, which was the main priority for the club.
The French side went out at the last-16 stage to eventual winners Real Madrid, throwing away a 2-0 aggregate advantage in the second leg as a 17-minute Karim Benzema hat-trick prompted their latest European disappointment.
PSG are still yet to get their hands on the Champions League title 11 years after the arrival of the Qatar Investment Authority, who have made the club one of the richest in world football and invested hundreds of millions in playing talent.
PSG’s owners are hoping that Galtier can finally achieve the holy grail over the next two seasons.
