Controversial couple Mauro Icardi and his wife and agent Wanda Nara have split up, with the latter confirming as much on social media.

Nara is known to be a hard-nosed negotiator on her husband's behalf, and has overseen big-money moves to Inter Milan and Paris Saint-Germain over the years.

The pair got together when Icardi was at Sampdoria amid questionable circumstances. Nara was married to Icardi's Argentine compatriot Maxi Lopez, and the young Icardi had been taken under Lopez's wing before starting an affair with his wife.

Icardi and Nara were married in 2014, a year after her split from Lopez, but they were rumoured to have split up last year amid reports of the striker being unfaithful. Nara has now, belatedly, confirmed their split.

"It's a painful moment, but given my exposure and the media speculation that's coming out, it's preferable to hear it from me," she posted on her Instagram account.

"I have nothing to declare, and I don't want to give any details about this separation. Please understand not only for me but also for our children."

Icardi on the move again

Icardi is now at Galatasaray having completed a one-year loan move to the record Turkish champions from PSG this summer.

A former Inter Milan captain, Icardi scored 124 goals in 219 games with the Nerazzurri and he bagged 38 in 92 matches with PSG.

He fell out of favour at the Parc des Prince in recent seasons, though, with PSG acquiring Lionel Messi from Barcelona to join Neymar and Kylian Mbappe in a formidable front three.

Icardi is yet to open his account with Galatasaray, but his career with the Istanbul giants is only 28 minutes of football old.

The 29-year-old - who also has one goal in eight appearances with his native Argentina - has declined to comment on his split from Nara.
