Revealed: Mbappe wanted Man City star at PSG
Kylian Mbappe was handed a mega contract extension over the summer to stay at Paris Saint-Germain as he rejected Real Madrid’s advances for a move to the Spanish capital.
The forward was heavily expected to join Real Madrid after months of talks but made a last-minute decision to stay at PSG, signing a two-year deal with an option for a further year after that.
There were some beliefs that in addition to the big financial package, there was also other elements of the club that Mbappe could have a say over in future years.
Now, some of his ideas have been revealed, and the players that he wanted at PSG have been unveiled, according to reports in France.
Mbappe wanted assurances with signings
Mbappe wanted assurances that the sporting project at PSG would match his ambitions as an individual as he wanted success on the grandest stage.
It was believed that Robert Lewandowski would arrive at PSG, with the club switching to a 4-4-2 formation, pushing Neymar out of the exit door and giving Mbappe greater attacking responsibility.
However, when Lewandowski announced his desire to leave Bayern Munich, he only had Barcelona in his sights for a transfer and a move to Paris was unlikely.
Another target for PSG was Bernardo Silva of Manchester City, who has impressed in recent times as he proved vital in his side’s Premier League title win in 2022.
Three players from clubs in Europe's top five leagues have scored 10+ goals across all competitions this season, here's how many matches they needed:
◎ 7 - Erling Haaland
◉ 8 - Kylian Mbappé
◎ 9 - Neymar

However, they felt the price for him was too high, and it was the same issue for Barcelona, who have had a high interest in the Portuguese player over the summer.
Other than that, PSG’s interest in improving their defence was well-reported, and Milan Skriniar was a key target for the club, however, they left it too late as Inter were chasing too big a fee.
PSG still had a busy transfer window, letting several players go and significantly improving their own midfield with the signings of Vitinha, Renato Sanches, Carlos Soler and others.
