Mbappe deals Liverpool and Real Madrid transfer blows

Kylian Mbappe’s future is often up in the air but he has dealt a blow to Real Madrid and Liverpool’s hopes of signing him with his latest comments.
Mbappe has been linked with a move to both clubs in the past, including as recently as this season when it was reported the Frenchman was unhappy in the French capital.
However, he has remained at Paris Saint-Germain over the years despite constant speculation and rumours that a move for him was close.

Speaking to Sports Illustrated, he spoke about his ambition at PSG and what it means for him to have stayed at the club over the last few years.

“You can stay here [PSG] to have success. For us it’s a big message, because when I announced I stay, a lot of things change in the mentality of people,” he said, when talking about his contract extension.
“People start to say, ‘Yeah, we don’t need to go out. You don’t need to leave the country,’” Mbappe added, highlighting the ambition of the club.

“I’m not scared. I’m ready. I always talk about my ambition, what I want to do, and now it’s time. In Paris, the book is fully white. What an opportunity! You have to think differently.
“Of course, it was easier to go to Madrid. But I have this ambition. I’m French. I’m a child of Paris, and to win in Paris, it’s something really special—really special. It writes your name in the history of your country for life.”
Mbappe was then asked about the interest in him from Liverpool, who he has been linked to in the past, and added that he met them when he was emerging at Monaco.
“We talked a little bit, but not too much. We talked a little bit. I talked to Liverpool because it’s the favourite club of my mum, my mum loves Liverpool. I don’t know why, you will have to ask her!

“It’s a good club and we met them five years ago. When I was in Monaco I met them. It’s a big club,” Mbappe concluded.
Where he goes next remains to be seen but what’s clear is that there will always be speculation around his future and what his next move will be.
