Inter Milan defender Milan Skriniar has confirmed that he has signed a contract with PSG.

Skriniar’s contract expires at San Siro at the end of the season and it had been clear for a while that he would not be penning an extension.

PSG have been in negotiations for months to sign the 27-year-old, who has now confirmed he has put pen to paper with the Parisians.

What did Skriniar say?

“Yes, it’s true — I have signed with PSG,” Škriniar told Futbolsfz.

“I’m waiting for the clubs to reach an agreement.”

All that remains to be seen now is if Skriniar will move to PSG on a Bosman Transfer in the summer or if he will join PSG immediately now in January for a fee.

Inter have until now been demanding a transfer fee of €20 million to sell Skriniar now, a price that PSG believe is too steep.

After accepting earlier this month that Skriniar wouldn’t sign on, Inter had initially planned to keep Skriniar until the end of the season and just lose him on a free transfer.

However, Skriniar’s recent behaviour - including a rash sending off in Tuesday’s 1-0 defeat to Empoli - made them rethink their plans.

Inter were in talks to sell Skriniar to PSG for much of last summer but the Ligue 1 side refused to meet the Nerazzurri’s €70m asking price.

The Italians had planned to sell Skriniar for that amount before signing Torino’s Bremer at half the price, in order to make a much-needed profit.

However, Juventus hijacked the deal for Bremer at the last minute and so Inter decided to keep Skriniar in the end.

This has proved to be a big mistake on the part of Inter chief Beppe Marotta as they will lose him for a fraction of PSG’s initial offer from last summer.

Inter will need to find a replacement before the end of the transfer window if they are to sell Skriniar now, with Fiorentina’s Nikola Milenkovic and Man Utd’s Victor Lindelof linked.
