The impasse between Kylian Mbappe and Paris Saint-Germain could come to an equitable conclusion with Al-Hilal reportedly ready to put together a €400 million package for player and club.

Mbappe was recently excluded from PSG's pre-season trip to Japan with his current employers firmly in the belief that he already has an agreement in place to join Real Madrid on a free transfer next summer.

Mbappe is out of contract in 2024 and had previously said he as unwilling to discuss fresh terms ahead of the coming campaign.

But there is a triangle of conflicting motives. PSG want to cash in on Mbappe now rather than lose him for nothing in a year; Mbappe wants to see out his contract and receive a signing on bonus from Real (for a total which would reach €275m); and Real don't want to pay a transfer fee now when they could avoid one later.

Mbappe to Al-Hilal?

And Saudi Pro League side Al-Hilal have sensed an opportunity.

"Al-Hilal offered €200 million per year to Mbappe for a two-year contract, possibly with a release clause after one year, solely reserved to Real Madrid," tweeted beIN SPORTS correspondent Tancredi Palmieri. "Also, they would bid €200m to PSG."

A €200m bid would fall some way short of the record €222m PSG paid Barcelona for Neymar in 2017, but it is an astronomical amount for a player with only one yar left on his current contract.

A salary of €200m per year would see Mbappe draw level with Cristiano Ronaldo as the best-paid player in the world - and indeed the highest earning sportsman of all time - following the Portuguese's deal with Al-Nassr struck in January.

Of course, Real would lose out, having to pay for Mbappe in 2024, and the player will need to balance his desire to play for los Blancos against the prospect of festering on the bench in Paris next season.
