Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has hatched a plan to receive a €30 million discount on PSG superstar Kylian Mbappe, according to reports from Spain.

Mbappe has effectively been put on the transfer market by PSG, with the Ligue 1 club leaving the 24-year-old forward off their squad to tour Japan before the league season begins in mid-August.

Tension is running high between the player and the club, who believe that he already has an agreement with Real Madrid in place to take him to the Bernabeu next summer, when his contract with the Parc des Princes club will run out.

PSG, though, do not want to lose Mbappe as a free agent and are pushing to sell him immediately.

Interest has been attracted from the Premier League, where Arsenal and Liverpool lead the way ahead of more tentative links to Chelsea and Manchester United, while there has also been links with a big-money move from the Saudi Pro League.

Real Madrid, though, remain hot favourites to land the striker.

Complicating matters for the Bernabeu club is the thorny issue of the player’s transfer fee. Having already landed Jude Bellingham for a club-record fee this summer from Borussia Dortmund, it is doubtful if they can afford another major arrival.

Real Madrid to get Mbappe cheap

According to Defensa Central, though, Real Madrid president Florentino Perez, who is working “tirelessly” to secure a deal, has put in place a transfer strategy to save the club €30m on the player.

Perez’s plan is quite simply to be patient. Mbappe’s asking price as it stands is thought to be around the €150m mark, but Los Blancos have been told that from around mid-August, PSG will slash that value to €120m.

The widespread belief in both Spain and France, however, is that Mbappe and Real Madrid are simply willing to play the clock and secure a free transfer next summer that will be financially advantageous to both parties.

PSG, meanwhile, have threatened Mbappe with a year in the stands if he does not leave the club via a transfer this summer.
