Neymar will be handed the No.10 jersey at his new club, where he will become the world’s best-paid player, according to reports in France.

PSG, meanwhile, are set to receive somewhere in the region of €90-100 million for the 31-year-old, who they bought from Barcelona for €222m in 2017.

All that stands between the Brazil international and the move to the Saudi Pro League club is for him to pass a medical, Romano states.

Documents have been signed and approved by all parties, with Neymar expected in Saudi Arabia later this week.

Neymar’s failed PSG legacy

Neymar moved to PSG with the intention of becoming the world’s best player but fell short of those goals. In moving to Paris, he hoped to step out of the shadow of Lionel Messi and instead stepped into the glare of Kylian Mbappe, whose development was perhaps quicker and more explosive than he might have expected.

Injury problems also dogged the former Santos youth throughout his time in France, with a series of contact issues preventing him from playing many key matches in the Champions League as PSG fell short of their objective of winning the competition.

Neymar was ultimately pushed out of the club’s plans by head coach Luis Enrique, who in seeing the Brazilian depart has concurrently welcomed back Kylian Mbappe into the fold, with the France international star even tipped to sign a new contract after going to war with the club over his present deal.

Neymar will become the biggest sale in PSG history and will hope to write a legacy in the Saudi Pro League with Al-Hilal that matches the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo and Karim Benzema in the big-spending division.
