Khephren Thuram was considered one of the most coveted stars on the market this summer but ended up remaining at Nice, however the midfielder still remains a target for a host of top European sides.

Thuram has been a standout player for Nice since signing from Monaco in 2019 and made his debut for France earlier this year, with speculation that he was in line for a major transfer in the summer.

But Nice’s reported €50 million asking price was enough to deter sides and the 22-year-old’s patience has been rewarded so far this season, with Francesco Farioli’s side sitting top of Ligue 1 after five games.

REWIND: Thuram's demands for exit during summer

Unsurprisingly, Thuram has been at the heart of his side’s bright start to the campaign, prompting speculation that teams could return for him next year.

Thuram’s contract expires in 2025 and Nice will likely look to cash in on their star man, with 90min reporting that six teams in particular have continued scouting the giant midfielder this season.

Juventus, Paris Saint-Germain, Bayern Munich, Dortmund, Liverpool and Tottenham are the teams named as still monitoring Thuram but one of those sides in particular is thought to have the edge.

Why family ties could give Juve the lead over rivals

Liverpool, who sit second in the table, were thought to be frontrunners for Thuram in the summer but they opted to sign a multitude of other midfielders instead, with Alexis MacAllister, Dominik Szoboszlai, Wataru Endo and Ryan Gravenberch all coming in.

However, Jurgen Klopp’s side remain in the race and have reportedly asked to be kept updated of his situation but Thuram could end up moving to the country of his birth in Italy, with Juve said to hold the ‘strongest interest’.

Juve could accelerate plans to sign a new midfielder in January after Paul Pogba tested positive for a banned substance, which could see the 30-year-old face a four-year suspension from football.

Thuram is the son of former Juve defender Lillian and the 1998 World Cup winner, who spent five seasons in Turin, is said to be keen for his son to follow in his footsteps and move to the Serie A side.
