Man Utd Transfer News Today: Ugarte ‘ONE STEP’ away, De Jong DECISION, Van Nistelrooy BOMB
The latest Manchester United football transfer news updates, with the hottest updates on all the potential new signings and sales at Old Trafford, including Manuel Ugarte, Frenkie de Jong and Ruud van Nistelrooy.
Van Nistelrooy to replace Ten Hag by 2026
Ruud van Nistelrooy is being groomed as an eventual successor to Erik ten Hag as Manchester United manager, FootballTransfers has exclusively revealed.
Van Nistelrooy was even offered the job during the summer but felt the task would be “overwhelming”. As a result, he has been given a two-year deal to work under Ten Hag, who he will eventually replace.
Van Nistelrooy was previously head coach at PSV and had been out of work for a year before hooking up with the Red Devils.
Ugarte deal close as PSG drop midfielder
Manuel Ugarte was dropped from the PSG squad for the opening match of the Ligue 1 season against Le Havre and is said to be “one step” away from joining Man Utd on a permanent basis.
The Uruguay international midfielder has agreed terms with the Old Trafford outfit but there is currently an impasse over a transfer fee, which Nicolo Schira says is the final step for a deal.
Ben Jacobs, meanwhile, reports that Man Utd’s last offer of €45 million falls short of PSG’s asking price in the region of €60m.
De Jong decision made
Man Utd have no intention of pursuing a move for Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong this summer, the Metro reports.
De Jong has been persistently linked with the Red Devils for much of the last two years, but FootballTransfers understands that his intention is to see out a bumper contract at Camp Nou.
The Netherlands international is presently on the sidelines due to injury, with AS reporting that Barca are baffled as to why his problem is taking so long to heal.
Osimhen to unlock McTominay deal
Victor Osimhen’s Napoli exit could be key for Scott McTominay’s move to the Serie A club.
Football transfer news expert Gianluca Di Marzio reports that with an asking price of €30m on his head, a deal for the Scotland international star will not be possible unless the Nigeria striker is sold or Antonio Conte decides to make the Man Utd academy graduate a priority.
Fiorentina want Lindelof
Man Utd may have the opportunity to offload Victor Lindelof to Fiorentina before the end of the transfer window.
Sky Italia states that the Viola are working to understand what Man Utd want for the Sweden defender, who earns around €3 million per year.
The arrival of Matthijs de Ligt is set to freeze Lindelof out of the team at Old Trafford this season.
