PSG have dropped Ousmane Dembele from their squad to face Arsenal in the Champions League because of disciplinary reasons.

RMC reports that Dembele has been axed from the PSG squad to travel to the Emirates Stadium for Tuesday’s matchday two clash against the Gunners with L’Equipe confirming the information.

With four goals and three assists in Ligue 1 this season, there is no PSG player with a greater direct goal contribution than the former Barcelona star.

RMC states: “Ousmane Dembele will not be part of the PSG squad that arrives in London on Monday at noon. According to internal sources at the club, this is a decision from head coach Luis Enrique, which is not apparently linked to any injury.”

It is unclear what the disciplinary action against Dembele has been taken in response to, with the winger having featured in the club’s 3-1 Ligue 1 over Rennes on Friday.

Last season, Luis Enrique left Kylian Mbappe out of his PSG side early in the season, but this was a club-driven disciplinary act rather than something that came from the former Barcelona boss.

PSG team news vs Arsenal

The call is unlikely to have been taken lightly given PSG are struggling with offensive injury problems.

Centre-forward Goncalo Ramos is a long-term absentee for Luis Enrique, while Marco Asensio is not expected to return in time to feature against Arsenal.

With Dembele ruled out, Lee Kang-In and Randal Kolo Muani are both set to feature alongside Bradley Barcola, who has often been PSG’s shining light offensively this term.

There is better news for PSG in midfield, with Vitinha returning to the fold after he was sidelined by illness at the weekend, and that should also be the case with left-back Nuno Mendes, who also sat out the clash with Rennes.

Dembele’s absence, though, is set to be a heavy one for PSG to cope with given his contribution to the side this season.
