Carroll, 35, joined Bordeaux in the fourth tier of French football this summer, following a one-year spell at Ligue 2 side Amiens, and he has enjoyed a brilliant start to life at the club.

The former England international has scored six goals in just four appearances for the club, with no other Bordeaux player finding the back of the net in the league since he made his debut against Chateaubriant.

The 35-year-old has now revealed that he would like to extend his career in order to play alongside his son Lucas.

Carroll told L’Equipe: “The goal is to do a LeBron James, meaning to play on the same team as my oldest son, Lucas, who is 14. It would be wonderful to experience that, in Bordeaux or elsewhere.”

LeBron James and his son Bronny made history when they took to the court together during the Los Angeles Lakers’ first game of the new season against the Minnesota Timberwolves in October.

They became the first father-son pairing to play together in the NBA, with LeBron scoring 16 points during a 110-103 win for the LA Lakers.

Andy Carroll at Bordeaux

Carroll secured a shock move to Bordeaux in September, with the former Liverpool forward eager to continue his exploits in France.

When asked how much he earns in the fourth tier of French football, Carroll admitted: “€3,500 a month? Oh no, it’s much less.

“I won’t tell you the exact figure, but to give you an idea, since I’ve been living here, I rent a lovely little house and my salary is lower than my rent.

“If I joined Bordeaux, it was obviously not for the money. I actually had offers to play in Saudi Arabia, but that didn’t interest me.”
