Rangers make transfer breakthrough for Eredivisie star

Danilo is close to completing his transfer to Rangers from Feyenoord, according to Rotterdam newspaper Algemeen Dagblat.

The Dutch source reports that Rangers have tabled a bid for the player that matches Feyenoord’s asking price of around €6 million.

Michael Beale’s side had seen three previous offers for the 24-year-old attacking midfielder knocked back, but it appears that the Scottish Premiership side, who will compete in the Champions League qualifying rounds, have matched the expectations of the Eredivisie side.

The report from Algemeen Dagblat is striking because it comes in direct opposition to reports from De Telegraaf at the weekend.

The latter source reported on Saturday that there was a bid of €5-6m from Rangers but that these offers were not being taken “seriously” by Feyenoord.

According to journalist Macel van der Kraan, Arne Slot’s side were only willing to do business if the Ibrox club were prepared to raise their offer “€3-4m more”. Given the reports from Rotterdam, though, that transfer fee appears very ambitious.

Feyenoord plotting move for Danilo replacement

Danilo made a free transfer from Ajax to Feyenoord in the summer of 2022. He quickly earned a place as a starter but after featuring regularly in the first few months of the season, he was surpassed by Santiago Gimenez in the latter part of the campaign.

Nevertheless, he played ever game for Feyenoord across the Eredivisie, the Europa League and KNVB Beker. In 48 appearances for the club, he scored 14 goals and generated another four assists.

Feyenoord also seems to be cautiously preparing for Danilo's departure with the interest in Ayase Ueda.

According to Het Laatste Nieuws, the 24-year-old Cercle Brugge attacker also enjoys interest from the Premier League, Major League Soccer and LaLiga.

According to the FootballTransfers algorithm, Ueda's Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) is €5.9 million euros, but his club wants at least €10m for a player under contract until June 2026.
