Rangers to beat Premier League club to sign former Chelsea star
Michy Batshuayi is set for a shock return to British football, with Rangers closing in on the signing of the former Chelsea striker.
The Ibrox club are in the process of remodelling their attack over the course of the January transfer window, having seen a disappointing performance from summer arrivals Cyriel Dessers and Sam Lammers.
Both Dessers and Lammers were signed under previous manager Michael Beale, who was sacked following a poor start to the season.
Philippe Clement has taken charge of Rangers and, after a promising start, has been handed the keys to strengthening the team.
Clement has already added Fabio Silva on loan from Wolves during this window, and with Lammers set to depart after just six months in Glasgow, he appears to be closing in on a second offensive addition in January.
Batshuayi is close to a move to Rangers, with the striker eager for first-team football after playing a largely peripheral role for Fenerbahce this season.

Batshuayi back in form
Despite rarely featuring for the Istanbul giants, he has still manged to score eight goals in 21 outings, which have come with just 867 minutes of game time.
Remarkably, he has been given only one start in the Super Lig, scoring a match-deciding hat-trick against fourth-placed Kayserispor in a 4-3 victory. He was subsequently dropped for the derby with Galatasaray four days later.
Everton are also thought to be interested in the striker, but the Scottish Sun reports that Rangers are leading the way for the forward.
Batshuayi is particularly attractive because he is out of contract in the summer and is destined to become a free agent after refusing new terms with Fenerbahce.

As such, he is expected to be available for a bargain fee as the Turkish side attempt to get some value for a player who was once sold from Marseille to Chelsea for €39 million.
At Stamford Bridge, he would score only 25 times in 77 matches as he was hit by injury, forcing him into several loan spells. He has rediscovered his best level at Fenerbahce, though, scoring 28 times in 52 appearances.
His Estimated Transfer Value currently stands at just €2.4m with his deal winding down.
Rangers are set to profit, with Batshuayi’s arrival another major shot in the arm for their title hopes.
