Rangers striker Cyriel Dessers says he is ready to hold transfer talks with Ibrox hierarchy if he does not get the playing time he wants at the Scottish Premiership side.

The Nigeria international striker was on target against Aberdeen on Wednesday in a 3-0 Ibrox victory, but the 30-year-old was once again forced into the role of substitute behind in-form attacker Hamza Igamane.

Dessers has been linked to a string of clubs this month, from Ligue 1 side Saint-Etienne to LaLiga outfit Leganes, while he has also discussed the possibility of leaving Rangers for Feyenoord.

He says he’s open to offers after falling down the pecking order under Philippe Clement.

Speaking to VI, Dessers said: “Last month, I lost my starting spot. The boy who is playing now is also a good striker, he’s scoring goals. I try to support him and help him because I want the team to win. But it is difficult.

"I don't know what my outlook is now. I can imagine that Rangers might want to earn something from me now. But January is a difficult window. Clubs that are doing well probably also have a striker who is performing well. And few clubs that need goals will immediately have the millions ready. We'll just have to wait and see."

Dessers is enjoying himself at Rangers, but the lack of playing minutes seems to be eating away at him. Although the striker's total counter this season is back at 32 appearances (13 goals, 4 assists), he has not played more than 27 minutes in the last 5 league matches.

“I'm at a great club, but I'm 30 years old and want to play every week,” Dessers says. “Preferably at Rangers. If there are different feelings about that internally, then we need to talk.”

Cyriel Dessers on returning to Feyenoord

There seems to be no lack of interest for Dessers, who was also asked about a return to the Eredivisie.

“Back to the Netherlands? Difficult,” according to the attacker. “Feyenoord have three excellent strikers. The other clubs I played for also have a special place in my heart. But I do have a certain price and there are only a few clubs that can pay that. In any case, I want to play in a serious competition, for the prizes. The fire is still burning.”

Rangers paid €5 million for Dessers in 2023 and the striker has a contract until 2027.
