Franck Ribery has refused to rule out the possibility of ending his career with a sensational return to the Bundesliga.

The Frenchman won the German top-flight title on nine occasions across a 12-year stint with Bayern Munich that also saw him lift the Champions League and six DFB-Pokals.

Ribery closed the curtain on his time in Bavaria by joining Fiorentina in 2019, but he has been plagued by injuries and poor form during his time in Italy.

Now aged 38, he is still considering a return to the league where he enjoyed the best years of a trophy-laden career.

  • “At the moment I only think about Fiorentina, I’m important for the team,” he told Bild. “But I don’t rule out a return to the Bundesliga when I’m finished here.”

Having signed a two-year deal when his move to Florence was confirmed 18 months ago, Ribery will be a free agent at the end of the season.

Before he departs, the former France international will hope to play a major role in helping struggling Fiorentina avoid relegation from Serie A.

The Italians currently sit in 15th place in the division with the second-worst goalscoring record of their fellow top-flight teams.
