The agent of Chelsea midfielder Jorginho has revealed that his client would be open to the idea of returning to Serie A with Napoli if Maurizio Sarri also returns.

Jorginho was a key figure in Sarri’s Napoli side that contested the Serie A title with Juventus for a couple of years, with the Italian boss also bringing the midfielder to Stamford Bridge after he was named Chelsea manager in 2018.

Though Jorginho’s qualities as a possession-based midfielder and whether that suits the Premier League have been questioned at times, he has been in a rich vein of form ever since the appointment as Thomas Tuchel as a replacement for Frank Lampard as the Blues boss.

When Sarri was Juventus head coach there were rumours that he was keen to bring Jorginho back to Serie A with the Bianconeri.

Now, the 62-year-old has been strongly linked with the Napoli job should the club decide to part ways with under-pressure current head coach Gino Gattuso.

The presence of Sarri at Napoli could entice Jorginho to go back, too, according to his agent.

“Football is dynamic and nothing can be ruled out,” Jorge Santos told Radio Kiss Kiss Napoli.

“If Sarri returns to Napoli, he would make an attempt to bring Jorginho back. He is perfect for his football. I can’t rule it out.

“He has two years left on his contract and is a regular starter for Italy. However, with a good project, he would be open to coming back.”

Napoli are currently sixth in Serie A hence the criticism being levelled towards Gattuso, but remain just three points adrift of the Champions League qualification positions with a game in hand over their nearest rivals.

Therefore, the speculation surrounding Gattuso’s future at the club may be slightly premature, though the Partenopei did just lose the Coppa Italia semi-final to Atalanta which took away their best chance of silverware this campaign.
